
A New dance craze is sweeping the south coast and women are flocking to sign up to its health benefits. For the women of Southampton pole dancing is now the new aerobics! Forget the raunchy, risqué image of old, pole dancing this specialised class is the perfect way to tone up those upper arm 'wings', firm up those abs - and have a real laugh into the bargain!
From celebrities like Kate Moss, Sadie Frost and Zoe Ball to Daryl Hannah and Heather Graham, to regular house wives and businesswomen - everyone's pledging their allegiance to the pole.
"No matter what your shape or size pole dancing lessons are an easy way to improve fitness and get results without hundreds of people glaring at you while you're working out, like at the gym," says Emma, herself a professional dancer and qualified instructor from Southampton.
"As with any workout, you are taken through a gentle warm-up before we tackle the poles, borrowing from yoga and pilates, we do a series of stretches and warm up our, then our girls take to the floor to practice some effective dance moves before hitting the pole and working those muscles".
